DEACONS' CORNER
Six Deacons serve our congregation, each for a 3-year term. We support Session and our Pastor in caring for our church community.
Our primary mission as Deacons is to welcome folks into our church family and to facilitate opportunities for people to connect. As greeters at weekly worship services, Deacons make a special effort to thank visitors for their presence and encourage them to return. Deacons plan and promote various “Gatherings of the Flock” that create opportunities for small groups to meet for many purposes, whether in-person or online. These gatherings enable Rec folks to share an activity together, enjoy discussions, engage in Bible study or prayer, or in other ways stay in touch. Although suspended during the pandemic, Deacons help to organize church-wide meals such as the Easter Sunrise breakfast. We assist with memorial gatherings and other church functions. In addition, we publish and maintain the church photo directory.
We have set up an opt-in Google group "Connect at the Rec" as a way for people to communicate informally.
Each Deacon has a section of the church family that is theirs to keep a special watch over. We call this our Flock.
Working in cooperation with the weekly Caregivers, we help the pastor tend to any special needs individuals may have each week. We are here to celebrate joys, and share any concerns.
Please feel reach out to your Deacon anytime. JoAnn in the office can put you in touch, if you are not sure whom to contact.
We are here for you!

CIRCLES OF LIGHT
We have several ongoing groups called Circles of Light that have arisen around mutual interests such as doing crafts, knitting, and studying various books.

CARE GIVERS
We have weekly caregivers to lend a helping hand to our congregants.

STEPHEN MINISTRY
Stephen Ministers are lay congregation members trained to provide one-to-one care to those experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or relocation.
Stephen Ministers come from all walks of life, but they all share a passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need.
